The PVM210 irradiance meter offers solar and photovoltaic engineers a compact, pocket‑sized tool designed for effortless use. Because the sensor and display are integrated into a single unit, it can be operated with one hand which provides an advantage when working on pitched roofs or at the top of a ladder.

Its clear display and measurement‑hold function allow you to capture quick, accurate readings of solar power, helping you determine the best initial placement for a photovoltaic panel.

The meter also supports essential measurements for calculating short‑circuit currents. When paired with a suitable ammeter, it can help confirm the manufacturer’s stated short‑circuit current for a panel. In addition to readings in W/m², it includes a selectable BTU range. To extend battery life, the PVM210 features automatic power‑off, and a universal camera‑style mounting thread on the back enables stable positioning for precise measurements. Each unit comes with a protective carrying pouch.

Measuring the Sunlight

The solar detector is located at the top of the meter. To take a solar power measurement, hold the meter with the detector facing the sky, positioned at a 90‑degree angle relative to the solar panel.

For even greater accuracy when checking the optimum angle or position, you can use the universal camera mount on the back of the meter to secure it in place.

Please note that the PVM210 operates within a temperature range of 5 to 40°C at below 80% RH, and it can be stored between –10 and 60°C at below 70% RH.
