Siglent SDG2042X Function / Arbitrary Waveform Generator
As part of Siglent's SDG2000X Series, the SDG2042X combines a 40 MHz bandwidth, 1.2 GSa/s sampling rate, 16-bit vertical resolution, and up to 20 Vpp output amplitude to deliver clean, accurate sine, square, pulse, ramp, noise, DC, harmonic, and arbitrary waveforms. Proprietary TrueArb and EasyPulse technologies help reduce the jitter and distortion limitations associated with traditional DDS waveform generation, making the SDG2042X a strong choice for signal simulation, circuit validation, modulation testing, and education-focused electronics labs.
Key Features and Specifications
40 MHz sine-wave bandwidth: Supports reliable signal generation for common analog, embedded, education, and general-purpose electronics testing.
Dual-channel output: Provides two independent channels for creating synchronized signals, comparing circuit responses, or testing multi-signal designs.
1.2 GSa/s sampling rate with 16-bit vertical resolution: Reconstructs waveforms with fine timing and amplitude detail for lower distortion and improved signal fidelity.
Up to ±10 V (20 Vpp) output amplitude: Provides high-fidelity signal generation for a wide range of test and measurement applications.
Arbitrary waveform length from 8 points to 8 Mpts: Enables simple custom patterns as well as longer, more detailed waveform simulations.
TrueArb sampling from 1 μSa/s to 75 MSa/s: Generates arbitrary waveforms point by point to preserve waveform detail and reduce DDS-related jitter or distortion.
EasyPulse technology with 16.3 ns minimum pulse width: Supports precise pulse creation with independently adjustable rise and fall times down to 8.4 ns.

Low jitter performance: Square, pulse, and arbitrary waveforms specify 150 ps RMS cycle-to-cycle jitter under stated conditions, supporting more stable timing-sensitive tests.
Built-in modulation types: Includes AM, DSB-AM, FM, PM, FSK, ASK, PSK, and PWM for communications, control, and mixed-signal testing.
Sweep, burst, harmonic output, and frequency counter functions: Adds advanced test flexibility, including a high-precision frequency counter with a 0.1 Hz to 200 MHz input frequency range.
196 built-in arbitrary waveforms: Helps users quickly select standard test signals without creating every waveform from scratch.
4.3-inch touch screen display: Improves front-panel navigation and setup efficiency.
USB Host, USB Device, and LAN standard interfaces: Supports bench use, file transfer, and remote-control workflows, with optional GPIB available through a USB-GPIB adapter.
EasyWaveX arbitrary waveform editing software: 12 standard waveforms included plus manual drawing, point-to-point line drawing and arbitrary point drawing.
Benefits of TrueArb and Easy Pulse Technology
TrueArb technology helps the Siglent SDG2042X generate arbitrary waveforms using a point-by-point architecture, so the generator does not skip waveform points and can reproduce detailed custom waveforms more accurately. This approach keeps the benefits of DDS while reducing the chance of serious jitter and distortion in arbitrary waveform output. EasyPulse technology improves square and pulse waveform generation by overcoming one-clock jitter associated with traditional DDS generator. It also allows fine pulse-width adjustment down to 16.3 ns and independent rise/fall-time control down to 8.4 ns, giving users precise control for fast-edge and timing-sensitive signal tests.
SDG2042X Application Uses
The SDG2042X is well suited for electronics design, education, production test, and troubleshooting applications. It is useful for validating analog circuits, simulating sensor signals, testing filters and amplifiers, evaluating digital timing behavior, generating pulse trains, and creating custom arbitrary waveforms for complex signal simulation.
