The USB-1608FS is a versatile device for sampling analog and digital signals. It can sample up to 8 analog channels simultaneously at 50 kS/s per channel or 100 kS/s in total, with different input ranges for each channel: +/-10 V, +/-5 V, +/-2 V, or +/-1 V. Each analog channel has a separate 16-bit A/D converter for true simultaneous sampling. The device also has 8 digital I/O lines that can be configured as input or output individually, and can read or write TTL-level signals. The device has a user-configurable internal jumper that can set the digital bits to pull-up (default) or pull-down.
The USB-1608FS device also has several features for advanced data acquisition. It has a 32-bit counter that can count up to 1 MHz, and increases when the TTL input goes from low to high. It has a bidirectional external clock terminal that can use an external source to pace the A/D conversions or output a clock signal to pace another device. The external clock can handle TTL signals up to 50 kHz. It has an external trigger input, and the trigger mode can be set to rising or falling edge. It can store a list of channels and gains for each scan in its local memory, and the list can have up to 8 different channels in ascending order, with different gain settings for each channel.
The USB-1608FS device is calibrated at the factory using a NIST-traceable method, and the calibration is valid for one year. The device also allows users to calibrate the device locally with the InstaCal utility.
