USB-1808X DAQ Overview
The Digilent USB-1808X is a versatile device equipped with eight 18-bit simultaneous analog inputs, configurable for differential or single-ended mode per channel. It supports sample rates up to 200 kS/s per channel and accommodates voltage ranges of ±10 V, ±5 V, 0 V to 10 V, and 0 V to 5 V. The device also features two 16-bit analog outputs with an update rate of 500 kS/s per channel. The output range is fixed at ±10 V.
The USB-1808X includes four individually configurable digital I/O lines and two 32-bit general-purpose counter inputs, which can be read either asynchronously or synchronously. Each counter can accept frequency inputs up to 50 MHz and supports various counter input modes such as Totalize, Period Measurement, and Pulse-width measurement. These counters can monitor time periods, frequencies, pulses, and other event-driven occurrences.
Additionally, the USB-1808X can decode signals from up to two quadrature encoders simultaneously, supporting encoders with a maximum pulse frequency of 50 MHz and X1, X2, and X4 count modes. The device provides A, B, and Z inputs for each connected encoder, which are used to determine system position, velocity, and direction of travel or rotation.
The device's two timers can generate pulse rates of up to 50 MHz each, with programmable pulse widths down to 10 ns. These timers can be paced by an internal or external clock and can be initiated by a digital trigger. The USB-1808X can read analog, digital, counter, and encoder inputs, and generate up to two analog outputs and one digital pattern output simultaneously, without affecting the overall A/D rate.
The USB-1808X also provides two external clock inputs for pacing input and output scans, and two clock outputs to output the internal or external clock used for input and output scans. The device supports digital triggering and pattern triggering, with the ITRIG and OTRIG pins used for external TTL-level triggering. The device can also start an input or output scan with a digital pattern trigger using any of the four DIO ports, triggering a scan when a specified pattern is detected.
The USB-1808 Series
Digilent's USB-1808 Series devices are high-performance, simultaneous-sampling DAQ devices. They provide eight 18-bit simultaneously-sampling analog inputs that are configurable per channel as differential (DIFF) or single-ended (SE). Also, there are two 16-bit analog outputs, four digital I/O, two 32-bit general-purpose counters, two quadrature encoders, and two timer outputs.
