NS 5540 is a thermal reactive liquid sealing compound used in high temperature and high pressure applications. In the presence of heat, NS 5540 forms a "mechanical type" seal. It does not cement flanges together, thus allowing for future repairs of metal-to-metal joints. NS 5540 is unaffected by thermal cycling and has been successfully used to seal flanges carrying up to 2900 psi steam.
