Keysight N6764A/760 Precision DC Power Module

The Keysight N6764A/760 is a 300 W precision DC power module engineered to deliver low noise along with accurate sourcing and measurement capabilities. It enables precise current measurements down to the milliampere and microampere ranges while simultaneously digitizing voltage and current data for detailed analysis. These measurements can be captured and stored in an oscilloscope-style data buffer, making it ideal for characterizing dynamic power behavior. Option 760 is also included (Output Disconnect / Polarity Reversal relays).

The module is compatible with both the N6700 Low-Profile Modular Power System, a compact 1U platform designed for automated test equipment (ATE) applications, and the N6705 DC Power Analyzer, which is optimized for bench-top testing and power analysis. All compatible mainframes include standard GPIB, LAN, USB, and LXI connectivity for seamless integration into test environments.

Built on the flexible N6700 modular platform, the N6764A can be installed alongside multiple power modules within a single mainframe. Users can customize their configuration by selecting from more than 30 DC power modules with performance levels ranging from basic to ultra-high precision and power ratings spanning 20 W to 500 W, allowing the system to be tailored for a wide variety of test requirements.

Output Disconnect/Polarity Reversal Relays (Option 760)

Option 760 adds output disconnect and polarity-reversal relays that mechanically switch both the positive and negative output leads, as well as the sense leads, to reverse the voltage polarity applied to the DUT. In addition to enabling automated polarity reversal, Option 760 includes the same output disconnect functionality provided by Option 761.

N6760 Precision Series FAQ

1. What is the difference between the N6760 Series and the N6750 Series?
   The N6760 Series emphasizes higher measurement precision, better low-current performance, simultaneous voltage and current digitization plus additional low-current measurement ranges. In contrast, the N6750 Series is optimized more for high-performance dynamic sourcing rather than ultra-precise low-current measurement.

2. How low a current can the N6760 Series measure?
   Models N6761A and N6762A support an optional 200 µA measurement range (Option 2UA), enabling very accurate low-current measurements for sleep-mode and standby-power testing.

3. Can the N6760 Series capture transient currents?
   Yes. The modules can digitize voltage and current simultaneously and store the data in an oscilloscope-style buffer, making them useful for analyzing transient power consumption and startup events.

4. Can the modules measure current as well as source power?
   Yes. A major reason engineers choose the N6760 Series is that it can simultaneously source power and make precision voltage/current measurements, reducing the need for external DMMs or current shunts.
