The PCE-DRS 2 is a handheld digital salinity refractometer from PCE Instruments has been specially designed to perform a precise analysis of aqueous solutions. Thus, with the help of the salinity refractometer, the user can carry out uncomplicated quality controls and determine, for example, the proportion of sodium chloride in the liquid foods or the salt content in aquariums.

The salinity refractometer is a precision measuring instrument based on the measurement of the refractive index of a liquid. With the help of the salt content refractometer, the user can measure the salt concentration in a liquid already in a small amount sample. To get a meaningful result, it is sufficient to drip a few drops of liquid into the stainless-steel tray of the meter. In the sample tray, a prism is enclosed, and by means of refraction, the salt content is measured in this way. The integrated light source in the digital salinity refractometer prevents measurement errors that in an analog salinity refractometer, are quickly triggered by artificial light such as fluorescent lamps. The measurement result is quickly and accurately shown on the large, easy-to-read LC display of the salinity refractometer after automatic temperature compensation (10 to 40 ° C). The user of the refractometer can also choose between different measuring units: salinity (0 to 100.00 %), chlorine content (0 to 57 %), specific density (1.000 to 1.070) and refractive index (1.3330 to 1.3530 nD). In addition, thanks to an integrated temperature indicator, the display provides information on the measured temperature of the liquid.

The glass prism of the digital salinity refractometer enclosed in the stainless-steel tray can be quickly and easily cleaned before and after the measurement and is closed with a plastic prismatic cover. The manufacturer has designed the salinity refractometer in such a way that the glass prism is protected from damage. The comfortable three-button operation guarantees user-friendly handling and nearly eliminates any incorrect operation of the salinity refractometer. The manufacturer has equipped the digital salinity refractometer with an automatic shutdown function to save the battery of the meter. When not in use, the salinity refractometer switches off automatically after one minute. If required, the user himself can calibrate the salinity refractometer at any time by putting a few drops of the distilled water into the measuring tray and triggering the calibration by pressing a button.

Applications
A refractometer is an optical measuring device with the help of which the user can determine the refractive index of liquid or solid substances. The salinity refractometer from PCE Instruments is used in many areas due to its versatile application possibilities. One application of the digital salinity refractometer is, for example, in food production. The precision measuring instrument is used to control brine, canned vegetables, soups, juices and many other products. Also, in the tram depots, the salinity refractometer is used for checking the preparation of the de-icing agents for the winter service. The meter is also suitable for checking the sodium chloride content in saltwater aquariums.

Thanks to its user-friendly handling, the salinity refractometer is ideal for determining the salt content in the liquids within seconds. Due to the handy and robust design, the salinity refractometer is anytime and anywhere applicable. It's easy handling, waterproof housing and flexible application options make salinity refractometers indispensable during many processes in foodstuffs production, research, clinical laboratories as well as in the hobby sector and within a few seconds provide the user with important support for making the right.
