It automatically redirects excess power during current sinking, requiring no programming. To protect your Device Under Test (DUT), the RP5935A safely synchronizes with the grid by detecting live status, phase voltage, and frequency in real time before initiating power regeneration.

The RP5935A power supply features an autoranging output that broadens its power delivery capabilities, allowing a wide variety of voltage and current combinations from a single unit. Unlike traditional supplies with fixed rectangular output profiles that provide full power at only one point, the RP5900 adjusts dynamically across a broad range—essentially offering the versatility of multiple power supplies in one.
Emulate a High-Power Battery from the Front Panel
With its battery emulation feature, the RP5935A allows you to test devices under realistic power conditions—critical for evaluating battery life and identifying early failures. Its bidirectional design and adjustable output impedance make it easy to define battery characteristics such as voltage, capacity, internal resistance, and State of Charge (SOC) directly from the front panel, enabling accurate simulation of both charging and discharging behavior.
Bidirectional Source and Independent Electronic Load
The RP5935A combines a bidirectional power supply and a regenerative electronic load in one unit, capable of continuously sinking up to 100% of its rated current. Its two-quadrant design allows seamless transitions between sourcing and sinking modes, offering flexible and efficient power control without the need for separate equipment.
Generate Voltage and Current Transients
To ensure your DUT stands up to these real-world transients, you must simulate worst-case power transient conditions during testing. The RP5935A provides three functionalities for simulating either voltage or current transients for testing: Step, Constant dwell arbitrary waveforms and List.

Multiple Operating Modes
The RP5935A provides voltage priority mode (CV), current priority mode (CC), resistance priority mode (CR), and power priority mode (CP). Additionally, four other complex modes are also available.
Add Power Flexibility to Your Test System
Paralleling multiple power supplies together enhances power flexibility in test systems, but conventional loads often struggle to maintain consistent Constant Voltage (CV) or Constant Current (CC) modes when paralleled, leading to performance issues like poor transient response. The RP5900 Series solves this with built-in paralleling that ensures balanced current sharing and consistent mode operation, supports primary/secondary configuration for unified control of up to 192 kW, and allows up to 16 units to be paralleled. Parallel connection of mixed models with identical voltage rating is only applicable for 6kW and 12kW models with the same firmware version.

The PW9252A PathWave Advanced Power Control and Analysis application provides quick, programming-free access to the sourcing and measurement functions of RP5900 Series regenerative power supplies, with support for LAN, GPIB, and USB interfaces. For battery-focused testing, the PW9253A PathWave Advanced Battery Test and Emulation application enables users to run battery tests, create battery models, and perform emulation using one or more Keysight two-quadrant power supplies.
