Overview
Fluke Networks TRC-SM-VERIFY-MMC16U is a reference-grade CertiFiber Max single-mode verification cord for testing unpinned MMC 16 cables.
Test Reference Cords (TRC)
TRCs, terminated with reference grade connectors, are used for certifying cabling systems to ANSI/TIA, ISO/IEC, and IEEE standards, with multimode connectors having a mated loss of ≤ 0.10 dB and singlemode connectors found in ISO/IEC 14763-3 having a mated loss of ≤ 0.20 dB. They are essential when installing low loss connectors with a loss of ≤ 0.15 dB, as using a connector with a higher loss for testing could yield pessimistic results and potentially fail a perfectly good link. TRCs also ensure consistent and predictable results, addressing a common complaint among installers during system certification.
About Single-Mode Fiber
Single-mode fiber has a small core that is typically 9µm wide, and a cladding diameter of 125 µm. Single-mode fiber allows for only one type of light mode to be propagated through the fiber. The transmission is therefore laser-focused and efficient, resulting in minimal signal loss and allowing for high-bandwidth applications over long distances. SM fiber is ideal for higher performance, longer distances and data centers where the higher cost of supporting electronics is not an issue.
