Keysight E36233A Autoranging DC Bench Power Supply
The Keysight E36233A is a 400 W autoranging DC bench power supply designed to deliver clean, reliable power for demanding test applications. Part of the Keysight E36200 Series, it provides 0 to 30 V and 0 to 20 A per output with autoranging technology, enabling higher current availability across a wide voltage range for greater testing flexibility. Features such as low output ripple and noise, accurate programming and readback, 2-wire or 4-wire remote sensing, and multiple protection functions help improve measurement accuracy while safeguarding valuable devices and prototypes.
The E36233A features two fully isolated, independently controlled outputs, effectively providing two power supplies in a single instrument. This design reduces bench space requirements and maintenance costs while allowing users to power multiple analog and digital circuits or devices simultaneously.
The outputs can also be configured in series or parallel mode directly from the front panel. In parallel mode, the E36233A can deliver up to 40 A of current. High-current binding posts on the power Supply are specifically designed to support safe, reliable operation in demanding test setups.

Readback accuracy: Voltage readback accuracy of 0.03% + 4 mV and current readback accuracy of 0.1% + 6 mA allow front-panel measurements without relying on an external multimeter for many bench tasks.
Low-range current measurement: Low-range current accuracy of 0.25% + 160 µA and 20 µA remote readback resolution help characterize low-current behavior.
Load and line regulation: Better than 0.01% + 2 mV voltage regulation and better than 0.01% + 250 µA current regulation help maintain steady output as load or power-line conditions change.

Remote sensing: 2-wire local sensing and 4-wire remote sensing compensate for voltage drops in test leads, improving voltage accuracy at the device under test.
Protection features: Over-voltage protection, over-current protection, delayed over-current protection, constant-current limiting, and over-temperature protection help safeguard connected devices.
Connectivity and automation: Standard USB and LAN, optional GPIB (order E363GPBU), SCPI programmability, IVI driver support, web browser control, and BenchVue compatibility (basic app free) simplify automated test setup.
Productivity tools: Data logging (up to 21,845 hours and up to 5MB of data), output sequencing, LIST mode, adjustable voltage slew rate, and internal memory help engineers capture test results and simulate power conditions.
Bench-friendly design: 4.3-inch color LCD, individual voltage and current knobs, front and rear output terminals, thermal-control fan speed, and compact 5.8 kg form factor support everyday lab use.
E36200 Series DC Power Supplies
The E36200 Series includes both single-output and dual-output power supplies designed for bench applications requiring up to 400 W of power. Its autoranging capability provides maximum available current across the entire output voltage range. For applications that require up to 40 A (E36233A) or up to 120 V (E36234A), the dual outputs can be automatically combined in parallel or series mode to create a single output with twice the available power. A single-output model is suitable for devices with power requirements below 200 W, while a dual-output model can power two devices simultaneously.

Keysight E36233A FAQ
What is the Keysight E36233A used for?
The Keysight E36233A is used to power and characterize electronic devices on the bench when engineers need a single-output or dual-output autoranging DC supply. It is well suited for powering a device under test during design validation, troubleshooting, production support, and general lab testing.
How does the autoranging feature work on the E36233A power supply?
Standard power supplies use a rectangular operating curve that limits current at lower voltages. Autoranging automatically adjusts the voltage and current limits dynamically. This allows the E36233A to deliver any combination up to 30 V and 20 A, provided the total output does not exceed 200W for each output or 400W for both outputs.
Does the E36233A support remote control and automated testing?
Yes. The E36233A supports SCPI programming and can be operated through USB, LAN, optional GPIB, IVI drivers, a web browser, or BenchVue software. These interfaces make it easier to integrate the supply into automated test systems and capture power-supply data for reports and documentation.
How does the E36233A help protect the device under test?
The E36233A includes layered protection features such as current limiting, delayed over-current protection, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, and over-temperature protection. It also supports 4-wire remote sensing to improve voltage accuracy at the device under test, helping reduce the risk of inaccurate power delivery caused by lead voltage drops.
E36200 Series DC Supplies are NB2-class performance grade, what does that mean?
NB2-class is a advanced benchtop DC supply. For labs requiring more power and precision, Advanced power supplies deliver more power, with low-noise, autoranging features, flexible output combinations, built-in protection, and full automation capabilities for daily testing and validation.
