The JBC PHBE-1KB Preheater Set is designed to help prevent thermal shock during PCB rework by providing controlled, uniform preheating of medium and large printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). Ideal for multilayer PCBs, laptop motherboards, and PCB panels, this complete solution combines the PHBE preheater with the included PHBS PCB support system for stable and repeatable rework processes.

With a dual-zone heating system, precise temperature control, and support for up to four thermocouples, the PHBE-1KB provides the accuracy required for demanding electronics repair, rework, and PCB assembly applications. Its large heating area accommodates boards up to 360 x 277 mm (14" x 11"), helping maintain temperature stability and reduce the risk of component damage.

Designed for Safe and Consistent PCB Rework

The JBC PHBE-1KB helps reduce thermal stress on sensitive electronic components by gradually bringing the board to the desired temperature before soldering or desoldering operations. This controlled preheating process is especially beneficial when working with multilayer circuit boards that require precise thermal management.

The included PHBS PCB Support adapts to a wide variety of board sizes and configurations through its adjustable support system and multiple height settings, making it suitable for electronics manufacturing, PCB repair, BGA rework, and advanced soldering applications.

PHBS Support

This support is perfectly adaptable to any type of medium / large PCB up to 14” x 11” by means of its three height adjustable elements.

It allows fast, easy and precise PCB changing, guaranteeing a proper positioning and is ideal for repetitive soldering jobs. This means saving time and optimizing workflow.

When combined with the PHBE Preheater its built-in slots ensures precise board-preheater alignment to always heat the same area.

Flexible Operating Modes

Power Mode

Power Mode allows the heater to operate at a fixed power level and can utilize a protection thermocouple to help safeguard the assembly during the heating process.

Temperature Mode

Temperature Mode maintains the PCBA at a selected temperature using a regulation thermocouple and optional protection thermocouples for enhanced process control.

Profile Mode

Profile Mode provides controlled heating-rate management through the use of control and protection thermocouples. This mode helps prevent overheating and supports temperature profiles tailored to specific PCB rework requirements.

Predefined and Custom Temperature Profiles

The PHBE-1KB includes three factory-defined temperature profiles, identified as A, B, and C, featuring 2, 3, and 4 heating steps respectively. These profiles are designed to support gradual board warming based on PCB thickness and layer count.

While the predefined profiles cannot be modified, they can be used as templates for creating custom profiles. The system allows storage of up to 22 user-defined profiles, each supporting up to 16 programmable steps.
